Arbor Day at Harrell Heights Park

Suwannee County 4-H Clubs along with Mr. Brian Cobble from the US Forestry Service and Mr. Greg Scott from Suwannee County Parks and Recreation planted trees at Harrell Heights Park on Florida's Arbor Day, January 16, 2009.

4-H'ers planted over 50 trees at Harrell Heights Park and took more than 350 trees to plant at their homes. These trees will count towards the 4-H Million Tree Project, in which 4-H'ers from across the nation will plant trees to help the environment.

Mr. Brian Cobble, from the US Forstry Service speaks to the group of over 45 people about the types of trees they would plant on Arbor Day. The white bag in the front contained over 1000 slash pine saplings.

Mr. Greg Scott, from Suwannee County Parks and Recreation, helps 4-H'ers plant a dogwood on Arbor Day.

JUDGEment Day

Here were the cards, tags, pins, and motivation letters before the contest. TJ, Tineke, and Philip felt good before the contest and were not nervous before their big day.
Here we are inside the Denver Coliseum for the National Western 4-H/FFA Livestock Judging Contest.

Here is the relieved and happy team and coach after the contest. Those were some very tired smiles. Right before they delivered their reasons, TJ, Tineke, and Philip had to climb three flights of stairs at 5,280 feet. They did this six times! Also, notice the proud look on coach's face!

After the contest, we went with the other contestants to Amazing Jakes for some well deserved fun times. We wish you were here!

Hole in One...One of many!!!

We will attend the Livestock Judging Banquet on Sunday morning then we will catch a flight to Atlanta in the afternoon. We should be in Jacksonville by 11:30pm and then back to Live Oak early Monday morning. Thank you for all of your thoughts and prayers. This team did a great job representing their coach, their parents and families, Suwannee County, and the State of Florida.
Great job TJ, Tineke, and Philip!!!

We went to the Colorado State Meat Lab for a little side trip. Mr. Dale Warner gave us the tour. Tineke didn't like the smell.

We took a little side trip into Wyoming. It was really windy. Don't believe us? Check out the sign.

Here we are with Kayla, our GPS system. We wanted to go to a steakhouse for supper. She took us to five different places. She really "punked" us good!!!
Here we are when Kayla finally got us to a steakhouse!
